Canadian tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime has made the decision to withdraw from the Moselle Open this week due to a knee injury. This choice, while prioritizing his well-being, also risks his chance to compete in the prestigious ATP Finals. Hailing from Montreal, the 25-year-old stated that his knee issue was the primary reason for his absence from the tournament in Metz, France, an ATP 250 event currently underway.

After a demanding journey to the final of the Paris Masters, where he suffered a 6-4, 7-6 (4) defeat against the top-ranked player Jannik Sinner, Auger-Aliassime advanced to the 8th spot in the ATP rankings. This propelled him past Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the race for a singles berth in the ATP Finals, set to kick off in Turin, Italy this Sunday. Musetti, who is competing in the Hellenic Championship in Athens this week, must secure victory in the tournament to regain the ATP Finals spot from Auger-Aliassime.

With a record of 48 wins and 22 losses this year, along with three titles under his belt, Auger-Aliassime has returned to the top eight for the first time since April 10, 2023.
