An examination of documents from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, released by the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, shows that Donald Trump’s name appears over 1,500 times. Most references, however, do not provide any new or substantial links between Epstein and Trump. The documents, consisting of emails, deposition transcripts, and news clippings, were made public by Republicans. Using the Google application Pinpoint for analysis, CBC News found numerous mentions of Trump, many from 2016 onwards, covering his presidential campaign and term.
Trump’s name is referenced in various contexts, including social media posts on the Brexit referendum and in a financial disclosure report from 2017 attached to an email exchange with Michael Wolff. Additionally, the documents contain a peculiar 20-second video showing a dog chewing on a Trump toy, with a Hillary Clinton toy nearby. The reason for including this video in the files is unclear.
Democrats Reveal Emails
Democrats from the House Oversight Committee disclosed three emails from the documents, raising concerns about Trump’s awareness of Epstein’s activities. One email from Epstein to Wolff in January 2019 alleged that Trump knew about certain matters, though specifics were not provided. Trump’s press secretary criticized the selective release of emails as an attempt to tarnish the president’s image.

Epstein’s Diplomatic Endeavors
In correspondence with Thorbjørn Jagland, Epstein suggested offering insights to Russian officials on dealing with Trump, including advising Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. While the emails indicate Epstein’s attempts to engage with the Kremlin, there is no evidence of any actual contact with Russian authorities.
Trump and Epstein were acquainted in the 1990s but reportedly had a falling out in the early 2000s. Epstein’s death in 2019, amid allegations of child sex trafficking, was ruled a suicide. Under Biden’s administration, supporters of Trump have advocated for greater transparency in the Epstein case, with some of them now holding key positions in Trump’s current administration.
