A driver has been charged by the RCMP in connection with a deadly crash that occurred in Whitehorse last month. The incident occurred on Sept. 30 on the Alaska Highway between Azure Road and Kathleen Road, near the Crestview neighborhood. According to authorities, the collision involved two minivans, one of which was a taxi, traveling in opposite directions on the highway.
Sadly, the crash resulted in the death of 64-year-old Ricky John, who was driving one of the vehicles, along with his canine companion. The driver of the taxi, identified as Amanpreet Brar, sustained injuries, as did a passenger in the taxi, both of whom needed medical treatment.
In a recent press release, the RCMP announced that Brar, aged 23, is facing charges related to the incident, including infractions such as crossing a double solid line, driving left of the center line, and reckless driving. Brar is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18.
