Thunder Bay authorities have arrested a 24-year-old male suspect in connection with a recent murder incident that occurred in the northern part of the city. The incident unfolded last week when law enforcement responded to a residence in the 100 block of College Street on October 30, discovering the lifeless body of a 67-year-old man, identified as Maurice Kenneth Bruins in a subsequent update by the police.

According to officials, it is believed that the victim encountered the suspect during a burglary at the residence. The suspect allegedly fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, later engaging in another break-in outside Thunder Bay. Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of the suspect, identified as Dwayne Ferris, who has no fixed address. Ferris has been charged with second-degree murder and breaking and entering.

Following his arrest on Tuesday, Ferris appeared in court the next day and was remanded in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
